Esther Marie Thorn, 82, of Keokuk died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk.

Born Feb. 4, 1928, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Charles Russell and Alma Bertha Cady Steele. On Oct. 20, 1947, she married Fred Thorn in Keokuk. He died Dec. 13, 2002.

Mrs. Thorn worked 15 years at Lee County Home in Keokuk, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Calvary Four Square Church in Keokuk. She enjoyed time with family.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Thorn of Keokuk; two sons, Keith Thorn and Randy Thorn, both of Keokuk; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sandra Jean Briggs and Mid Wagner, both of Keokuk.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, one grandchild, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Thorn will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Vigen Memorial Home with the Rev. Dan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for American Heart Association.
