Dorothy Hansen

Dorothy "Dottie" Eloise Hansen, 78, of Mount Pleasant died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born May 20, 1931, in Port Jefferson, Long Island, N. Y., she was the daughter of Walter and Marcie Beamer Congdon. On Aug. 21, 1954, she married Wayne Hansen in Moline, Ill.

Mrs. Hansen was a homemaker. She worked as a secretary for McClellan Co. in Davenport and for Hansen Instruments. She graduated from Moline High School and attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill. She was a Jehovah's Witness. She enjoyed Bible study and taught the Bible. She also enjoyed traveling and attending Christian conventions.

Survivors include her husband; and one daughter, Marcie of Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by one son, her parents and one brother.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Fairfield. The body has been cremated.

The memorial service for Mrs. Hansen will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Lothar Lengtat officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakland Mills Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
