Two years after an alleged incident inside a storage shed, authorities have arrested a Mediapolis man, accusing him of forcing sex on a teen.

Carl Alan Peterson was booked last week into the Des Moines County jail on a warrant charging him of third-degree sexual abuse, a felony punishable of up to 10 years in prison upon conviction.

According to the investigation, Burlington Police received a report in August from a mother who claimed her daughter was sexually assaulted in a shed behind a home in the 500 block of South 10th Street the day after Christmas in 2007.

The daughter, who was 15 years old the time of the incident, reportedly told police she attended a party at the home with her boyfriend. At one point during the party, she left through the back door with a man she identified as Peterson.

Police said in a report the two went into a shed where Peterson allegedly lifted the girl's shirt and pulled her underwear down, even after repeated demands from the teen for the man to stop.

She claimed Peterson then started to have sex with her, court papers indicate.

The girl's boyfriend told police he started to look for the girl at the party and found her and Peterson in the shed.

Peterson allegedly first denied being at the party but later admitted he was there. However, he told police he did not have sex with the girl.

During an interview with police, Peterson later allegedly said the sex was consensual.

Peterson added the girl's boyfriend caught them inside the shed and told them to stop.

A protection order, barring any contact between Peterson and the girl, has been placed.
