Prayer can make a difference

A few weeks ago our world was rocked by a near tragic accident that happened to 4-year-old grandson, Brayson Steward. He was in the garage with his dad, Jody, and his Uncle Luke. Watching his dad working on motorcycles and four-wheelers is a common activity for Brayson.

What happened next was a freak thing. He was holding a screwdriver when he tripped and fell.

Jody nor Luke saw what happened. They only saw Brayson standing awkwardly holding the screw driver with a little blood on the corner of his eye.

After a few minutes, they decided to take him to the emergency department. There the doctor on call thought maybe they should do a CAT scan. Only then did we know the severity of the accident. The screwdriver had entered Brayson's head and penetrated his brain.

Believe this or not, that's when good things started to happen. As they prepared to fly him to Iowa City, we gathered around Brayson, and Chaplin Randy prayed for Brayson and the doctors that would see him. I knew in my heart that everything was going to be OK, but it didn't look good.

To make a long story short, Brayson is home and you would never know that anything had happened.

He was told he should do therapy, and after the first visit they said there was no reason to return, he was good to go.

The response from so many people was amazing. We cried out to everyone to just pray, and pray they did. Complete strangers would stop me and tell me they were praying for our little grandson. I believe in my heart that is what saved him. There is power in prayer, and it was very evident to all of the family that God does answer, and he did.

Again, I say thank you to all who took time to think about our little Brayson. You made the difference, God bless you all. If you want to see the tribute for Brayson, go to parksidefbc.org and click on online sermons, click on Brayson's celebration. Your prayers made it happen, thank you.
