Recently you had a letter ranting about those receiving welfare.

Well certainly the writer is entitled to his opinion. As for me, I thank God that my family has never needed to receive welfare.

Both my wife and I came from poor working backgrounds, and many times it was a struggle to support our kids. We can be thankful for good health and the means to earn a living. As for others receiving welfare, Jesus shows us to help the poor and not to judge others.

I'd much rather my tax dollars go to help those that need it, rather than have it spent on war and destroying lives. For those that begrudge helping the poor, I'll pray that God softens their heart and that they prosper.
