State tournament history -- Western Dubuque: The Bobcats have appeared in only one tournament, but it was a memorable one as they won the Class 3A championship in 2001; they are 3-0 in the tournament. Mount Pleasant: The Panthers are making their fourth appearance, but first since 1997. The Panthers' only win (1-4) came against Iowa Falls, 48-45, in the 3A quarterfinals that season, and they lost to Creston and Waukon the next two games to finish fourth. They also made appearances in 1976 and 1984.
Notes -- The teams' only common opponent is Marion, which beat the Panthers by four and the Bobcats by five. Among Western Dubuque's wins was a conference victory over Solon, the Spartans' first league loss in two years. ... Mount Pleasant is shooting 57.5 percent from the floor this season, more than five percent better than any other team (Sioux City Heelan is second at 52.2 percent).
