Labor's voice

Thank goodness at least one of our state representatives will boldly state that he supports labor issues and workers, and that he will demonstrate the same by his vote.

He recognizes the contributions that labor and unions have made in this country and refuses to disenfranchise them at the ballot box the way Tom Greene, and others of his ilk, would have him do. The so-called 20 percent you deride deserve a voice as well, Mr. Greene.

Lord knows we have enough folks like Tom Sands whose sole interest is creating more tax breaks for business, not to mention the whole Republican party's refusal to take responsibility for its role in poor financial management under eight years of George Bush when they controlled the entire government and drove our economy into the ground with two wars and their free market mantras.

So thank you, Mr. Courtney, for keeping up the fight. It's nice to know labor has a voice in this state as we try to move it beyond the "right to work" mentality, which has meant for decades that unscrupulous employers can take advantage of their employees, depriving them of decent income and benefits. In doing so, of course, the wealth of the state and nation can reside with the very few who deem themselves enlightened and worthy of it, such as Mr. Greene, I suppose.
