Hotel/motel tax revenue increases
Jeff Abell

Since 2006, Burlington has seen a roughly $200,000 increase in hotel/motel tax revenues.

For the 2009-10 fiscal year, the city received roughly $632,740 from the so-called "pillow tax," according to information supplied by the city's finance director.

Approximately 50 percent of hotel/motel tax receipts generated annually are received by the Burlington Convention and Tourism Bureau, which is a part of the Greater Burlington Partnership, the chamber of commerce's umbrella organization.

The following chart shows hotel/motel tax revenue received each year since 2001 and the convention and tourism bureau's allotment.
